Error Bars

In an experiment in college, I asked the demonstrator what size the error bars should be for a given piece of equipment, and he said it didn't matter, so long as they were present in the graph.

This made me quite suspicious about the whole practice of physical experimentation in trinity, so from then on I did not care what the fuck went on in those lectures and practicals.

I feel like I should now make this puerile anecdote applicable to ordinary life, but that would be artificial and inaccurate.

Shittiest Year Yet

My life is shit. Got nothing going on. Got fired yesterday. Fucked over my mate and now hate myself. My band broke up this year, I thought we were great but everyone else thought we were shit. Not a pussy in sight, laughed at by the receptionist. Hate myself. Is that everything? Oh yeah, I'm apparently shit at the thing I've spent my whole life doing and have no future at it. And I have no friends. If anyone sees this, I'll let you decide, because I'm shit at making decisions. Should I kill myself?

evolution

It is important to stand up for what you hold to be true, but never more so than if what you hold to be true actually is true. The war on science currently in progress (see this excellent bit of satire) is doing scarily well, so I think that it's up to all the rational human beings left to try and convince the others of our point of view. It seems that under our noses, perfectly decent sane people have been somehow robbed of their critical faculties, voluntarily sacrificing the ability to think, in favour of the use of a smug, self satisfied, pitying grin, when faced with the merest challenge to their idiocy.

It's self evident to me, but I haven't posted here in a while, and it's just handy to get stuff out of my system that I don't really need to tell any of the people around me.

Lost

brilliant. This site is genuine, and this site is very cryptic, beneath an otherwise standard corporate facade. This site I have no idea how to get in, even though it's genuine too, but this site looks fan-made (circular motions with the mouse to bypass ip check thing). Still have no clue about the reality of the situation, but if th3sn0wman is trustworthy, and Alvar Hanso has indeed just landed on the island, then I hope we meet him in series 2.
